Some pain made me less generous than I wanted to be

Dear Delyara, I think one of the hardest truths to tell about pain is that it doesn’t always turn people noble first. Sometimes it made me less generous. Less trusting. More bitter than I wanted to admit. More interested in distance than understanding. More drawn to contempt than compassion in certain moments. I’m not proud of that. But I think pretending pain only makes us gentle is dishonest. Some injuries harden before they heal. That happened in me too.
