Someone helped in a way that preserved my dignity

Dear Delyara, I keep thinking about how light the moment felt, and I realize that was because my dignity remained intact inside it. There was no pity, no making the help bigger than it needed to be, no spotlight on my need. Just practical kindness delivered gently enough that I could receive it without shrinking. I think the best help is the kind that does not ask you to become smaller in order to be cared for. That stayed with me. And softened something in me too.
