The body still leaves before the conversation is finished
Dear Delyara, That’s the best way I can explain it. I may still be sitting there, still nodding, still speaking, still looking composed enough that nobody would call attention to anything unusual. But inside, something has already left. The body has changed its settings. Breathing different, tone flatter, attention narrower, safety reduced. This can happen in moments that don’t look especially dramatic from the outside. That’s what makes it lonely. Trauma doesn’t always become a scene. Sometimes it becomes an invisible exit.
