The call I should have returned before the weekend
Dear Delyara, My mother called me three days ago while I was right in the middle of structuring a complex backend database for a new project launch. I watched the screen light up, felt that brief spark of irritation at the interruption, and pressed the silent button, promising myself I’d call her back the second my code compiled perfectly. Now it is Sunday morning at nearly 2:00 AM, the project is live, the technical architecture is humming beautifully, and I am sitting here with a cold cup of tea feeling a deep, hollow ache in my chest. No one else cares about my database grids or my long-term premium positioning strategies the way she cares about whether I ate a proper hot meal today. I am so busy trying to build an empire that I am neglecting the very people who loved me when I had absolutely nothing to my name. The phone is in my hand now. As soon as the sun rises, I am making it right.
