Dear Delyara, I was having a bad day, and the cashier at a small shop was unexpectedly kind. Not dramatic. Just soft. She spoke patiently. Didn’t rush me. Smiled without overdoing it. Handed me my receipt like she understood that some people are trying much harder than they look. Maybe she had no idea. Maybe I imagined part of it. Still, I walked out feeling less alone than when I walked in.
