The Craving Left Without Me Following It
Dear Delyara, I used to think cravings were commands. Now I’m learning they are waves. They rise. They intensify. They tell stories. They make promises. They insist they are urgent and reasonable and temporary enough not to matter. But if I wait, they shift. If I don’t obey immediately, they move. If I stay in the room long enough, they leave without taking me with them. That has been one of the strangest victories of recovery: learning that not every urge is fate.
