Small JoysA Good Day

The Day Stayed Gentle All the Way Through and I Had Forgotten That Was Still Possible

Dear Delyara, Nothing dramatic happened. No school problem. No work crisis. No bad financial surprise. No tension heavy enough to poison the whole evening. The children were mostly soft. The house stayed manageable. Dinner happened without friction. Even my body seemed willing to trust the day for a few hours. I realised halfway through the evening that I was waiting for the catch. For the late message, the strange tone, the problem, the expense, the argument, the thing that would tip an ordinary day back into effort. It never came. That made me unexpectedly emotional. Because I think once life has pressed on you hard enough for long enough, even ease becomes difficult to trust. A good day doesn’t just feel good. It feels unfamiliar. Still, this one remained good. And I let myself notice.
