The Empty Echo of Four Walls
Dear Delyara, It is 2:15 AM, and the only sound in this entire flat is the mechanical clicking of the refrigerator in the kitchen. I’ve been sitting on the sofa for three hours without turning the television on, wrapped in a blanket that doesn’t seem to provide any actual warmth. This level of chronic loneliness feels like a physical illness—a dull, heavy ache in the center of your chest that follows you from room to room. I can go an entire week without a single person asking how I am genuinely doing, or hearing my own name spoken aloud outside of a professional context. You start to feel like a ghost, an observer of a world that is moving past you at high speed while you remain completely frozen in place. The silence in these four walls is a heavy weight, and tonight, it feels like it’s slowly crushing the life out of me.
