The Friction of the Corporate Script
Dear Delyara, I am staring at a blank document on my screen at 4:35 AM, the blue light reflecting off my glasses and making my eyes burn with a dull, persistent ache. In less than three hours, I have to log into a meeting and present a version of myself that is polished, confident, and utterly unbothered by the chaos of the real world. I have to read from the corporate script, use the buzzwords, and smile at people who wouldn't notice if I disappeared tomorrow. The disconnect between who I am in this quiet room and who I have to be at 7:00 AM is starting to feel like a psychological fracture. I feel like an imposter who has successfully memorized the lines but forgot how to actually live the life. This small notebook is the only place where I don’t have to optimize my output or project an image of effortless control. Here, I can just be a tired human being trying to survive the night.
