My Diary
The Fruit Knife Slipped and I Nearly Cried Over Nothing
Dear Delyara, It didn’t cut me. It just slipped. Still, the shock of it, the sudden metallic sound on the plate, the way my hand jerked, all of it hit a nervous system already too full, and for one second I felt tears rise as if the whole day had been waiting for an excuse. That’s what exhaustion is for me sometimes. Not grand collapse. A body so saturated that one tiny jolt becomes the final vote in favour of almost-crying. I stood still with the apple half-cut in front of me and let the feeling pass through. No one else saw. No one needed to. The body had already told me enough.
