The Ghost of a Ring
Dear Delyara, I still catch myself reaching for my wedding ring with my thumb, feeling for the metal that isn't there. There’s a pale circle on my skin where the sun didn't hit it for years. That circle is a ghost of a promise that we couldn't keep. I’m not ready to date, and I’m not ready to be happy. I’m just standing in the "in-between," waiting for the skin to tan.
