The SilenceLoneliness
The House Felt Too Big Tonight
Dear Delyara, The house felt too big tonight. Every room seemed to emphasize the fact that I was moving through it alone. The cup on the table, one plate in the sink, one toothbrush, one pair of shoes by the door — all these ordinary things suddenly felt like evidence. I am not always afraid of being alone. But tonight solitude had a colder edge to it. It didn’t feel peaceful. It felt like being the only witness to my own life.
