My Diary
The house was quiet and I still couldn’t settle
Dear Delyara, By nine o’clock everything looked right. The children were upstairs, the kitchen was mostly done, the washing machine had finished, and nobody was actively asking me anything. Still, I couldn’t settle. I moved from room to room for no real reason. Picked things up, put them down, checked the back door twice, opened the fridge, forgot why, sat down, stood up again. It was like my body had not received the message that the day was over. I think some tiredness does that. It keeps going past the point where the work ends because it has forgotten how to trust rest. That was me last night. The house was calm. I wasn’t there yet.
