The Invisible Strings
Dear Delyara, We are tied together by a thousand invisible strings of guilt and history. Every time I try to move forward, I feel the tug of your expectations pulling me back. It’s a slow strangulation of the soul. Today, I used the pen as a blade. I wrote about the ways you hold me back and the ways I let you. I am cutting the strings, one by one, sentence by sentence. I don't hate you; I just love my freedom more. I am leaving the tangled mess on the floor of the sanctuary. I am walking away untethered.
