My Diary
The kindest part of the day was the dark
Dear Delyara, I know that sounds strange. But it was true. When the sun went down, I felt myself soften. As if the world itself had finally lowered its voice enough for me to stop performing such full wakefulness. There’s something about evening that gives me permission not to be so visibly functional. During the day, I often feel too exposed. Too available. Too expected. Darkness reduces some of that. Tonight, it gave me back a little privacy. And that felt kind.
