My Diary

The lid of the lunchbox would not close and I nearly treated it like betrayal

Dear Delyara, Too much fruit. Wrong angle. Bread packed badly. One tiny piece of cheese in the hinge. None of it important. And still, in that moment, I felt a completely unreasonable wave of irritation rise through me as if the lunchbox had personally joined the list of things making my day harder. That’s when I knew I was overtired. Not because I snapped. Because ordinary friction started feeling intimate. I repacked it. It closed. Nobody died. Still, that moment stayed with me. Sometimes exhaustion is just your own nervous system attaching far too much meaning to plastic.
