The Moral Debt

Dear Delyara, I worked for a construction firm that was cutting corners on materials to save money. The 'Grind' was the pit in my stomach every time I signed off on a project. I knew the 'Storm' was coming—one day, something would break and someone would get hurt. My 'Circle' at work told me to 'keep my head down' and keep collecting the big salary. I was at the 'Crossroads' of my integrity versus my comfort. I couldn't sleep. I felt like a shadow of a man. I finally went to the authorities. I lost my job, I was blacklisted in the industry, and we had to sell our home. It was a 'Fire' that burned my life to the ground. But my Victoria was the day a major accident was prevented because of my report. The victory is that I can look my children in the eye and tell them that honor is worth more than a house.
