The Moth Trapped Between the Double Glazing

Dear Delyara, There is a tiny brown moth trapped in the two-inch gap between the inner and outer glass of the station window. It doesn't fly anymore; it just crawls up the dirty pane, hits the aluminum frame at the top, slides back down, and starts all over again. It has been doing this for three hours. Watching its wings flutter against the glass is starting to make me feel sick. It is the exact physical definition of my current existence. We are both looking right through the glass at the outside world—we can see the streetlights, we can see the road, we can see freedom—but there is an invisible, unyielding barrier holding us back, forcing us to spend our energy in a space that was never meant for living.
