My Diary
The Night the Lights Went Out
Dear Delyara, The power went out in my entire block tonight. Suddenly, the constant hum of the fridge and the glow of the router were gone. I lit three candles and sat on the floor. Without the distractions, the house felt enormous and unfamiliar. I ended up talking to myself just to hear a voice. It’s amazing how much we rely on technology to keep the shadows away. Tonight, I had to sit with mine. It wasn't as scary as I thought it would be. The dark is just a place where you can finally stop pretending you know where you’re going.
