The Orange Sodium Light Through the Blind Slats

Dear Delyara, The streetlamp directly outside my window has developed a slow, rhythmic stutter tonight. Every forty seconds, the orange sodium glow cuts out completely for two long beats, plunging my ceiling into total darkness before buzzing back to life with a harsh, purple flicker. It completely changes the room, turning the familiar layout into a strange, moving slideshow of shadows. I tried closing my eyes, but the shifting light cuts right through my eyelids anyway, matching the frantic, unsettled pacing of my own thoughts. I just lay here staring upward, counting the gaps, waiting for the night to finally settle into a quiet that doesn't push back.
