The Pale Yellow of a Single Streetlight Reflecting in a Puddle of Oil
Dear Delyara, I noticed a beautiful thing in the middle of a terrible concrete car park tonight. A delivery van had left a small puddle of engine oil on the wet tarmac, and the streetlight above was reflecting in it, turning the black grease into a swirling, iridescent pattern of neon green, deep purple, and gold. It looked like a tiny, liquid galaxy trapped between the white parking lines. I stood there for a minute, completely ignoring the rain, just looking at how something so dirty could produce something so incredibly vibrant if the light hit it from the correct angle. It’s an old cliché, I know, but sometimes you need a reminder that the world holds onto these little visual gifts exactly where you least expect to find them.
