The WeightPast Wounds
The present touches old injuries more often than I admit
Dear Delyara, I’d like to think I’m reacting only to what’s in front of me. That isn’t always true. Sometimes the present brushes against something older and suddenly the emotional volume doesn’t match the actual event anymore. A small disappointment lands like abandonment. A dry tone feels like rejection. A little distance wakes up a much larger fear. That’s what old wounds do. They borrow current moments and turn them into echoes. I know that intellectually. I still feel it physically.
