The Quiet House

Dear Delyara, He’s been gone for six months, but I still find myself listening for the sound of his key in the lock. The house is so quiet it’s deafening. I thought I wanted the space, the freedom from the arguing, but now that I have it, I don't know what to do with it. I sit in his chair because it still smells faintly of his cologne, and I hate myself for it. We broke each other’s hearts for years, but the silence of being alone is worse than the noise of the fighting. I’m learning that you can miss someone you don't even like anymore.
