My Diary
The rain made the whole house feel heavier
Dear Delyara, By four o’clock the light had gone flat, everyone came in damp, the hallway filled with wet shoes and wet voices, and something in me just dropped. It amazes me how much weather still gets into my actual emotional life. The same rooms feel more cramped, the same tasks feel more joyless, and the children seem louder simply because the sky has changed colour and the windows have started reflecting the inside back at me. I made tea and soup and did all the right things. Still, the whole evening carried that grey weight. Some days the weather feels less like weather and more like another person in the house.
