The Reflection in the Dark Mirror
Dear Delyara, I just went to the bathroom to wash my face at 2:15 AM, and when I looked up into the mirror under the flickering fluorescent light, I genuinely didn’t recognize the person looking back at me. The eyes were hollow, rimmed with deep red veins, and the skin looked gray, drained of any real vitality. I stood there gripping the edges of the sink, wondering how a person can slowly disappear while their physical body stays entirely intact. I am losing myself to this routine, to the constant stress, and to the isolation of keeping everything locked inside my own head. The mirror doesn't lie; it shows the wear and tear of a soul that is running on absolute empty. I walked back into the dark room, sat down, and decided to write this because if I don’t get these thoughts out of my body, I feel like I might actually break into pieces tonight.
