My Diary

The school app started buzzing before I finished my tea

Dear Delyara, One reminder about uniform. One payment notice. One message about a trip next month. One cheerful update about something that now becomes one more thing for me to remember. By the time I’d opened the third notification, my tea was still hot but my mood was already gone. I think that’s what makes modern parenting so tiring. The practical side of it no longer waits for reasonable hours or separate spaces. It enters through the phone while you’re still in your dressing gown and expects the same calm, organised response as if you’ve been awake and available for hours. I answered what needed answering. The tea went cold. It felt exactly like the morning deserved.
