My Diary

The Shopping Stayed in the Boot for an Hour

Dear Delyara, I knew it was there. Milk, fruit, bread, washing liquid, a bag of potatoes, all sitting in the car while I came inside and made tea and stood in the kitchen pretending I would bring it in “in a minute.” The truth is, I could not face carrying one more thing. So I left it there. Not forgotten. Delayed. That felt small on the outside and enormous on the inside. Because sometimes what breaks first is not discipline. It’s willingness.
