The silent scream behind the professional mask
Dear Delyara, Today, during a routine property management meeting, I had to sit quietly and listen to a junior agent explain my own market sector to me as if I were a child. I watched his mouth move, his eyes completely devoid of any real understanding, while he recycled buzzwords and shallow metrics he’d read on a blog. I felt a hot, blinding surge of rage rise up from my chest, a desperate urge to stand up, throw his folder out the window, and tell him exactly how many years of frontline blood, sweat, and discipline I have poured into this industry. But instead, I just adjusted my posture, kept my voice perfectly calm, and nodded. I am so tired of having to shrink myself, to swallow my own competence and expertise, just to keep the peace and protect the corporate framework. The poison of unexpressed anger is eating me alive.
