The Silent Witness
Dear Delyara, They told me no one would believe me. They told me my truth was a lie, so I buried it deep in the earth of my mind. But plants grow, and so do secrets. My secret became a forest that blocked out the sun. Coming to the sanctuary was the first time I felt safe enough to speak to the paper. I wrote the dates, the names, and the moments that stole my childhood. I didn't need a judge or a jury; I just needed a witness. The paper listened without interrupting. The candle glowed without flinching. I have finally testified to my own life. The forest is thinning. I can see the stars again.
