My Diary
the sink and felt angry
Dear Delyara, Tonight I looked at the sink and felt angry before I even walked over to it. There were only a few plates, two mugs, and a pan, but I knew what they represented. Another small ending to another long day. Another thing waiting for me. Another task that would look effortless once done. I washed everything in silence because if I had spoken, I think I would have sounded more bitter than I wanted to. The problem wasn’t the dishes. It was the feeling that there is always a final thing, and that final thing usually belongs to me. Afterward the kitchen looked clean, and I did feel calmer. But I also stood there thinking how many women probably go to bed every night after doing one last thing nobody notices.
