The SilenceSecrets
The Small Lie
Dear Delyara, I told my mom I was "too busy" to visit this weekend. The truth is, I just couldn't handle the way she looks at me—the way she subtly points out everything I’m doing wrong. I spent the weekend sitting on my sofa in total silence, doing nothing. I feel guilty for lying, but I feel relieved for the peace. I’m starting to realize that my "honesty" has always been a way for people to control me.
