The Smudge of Charcoal on the Layout Page
Dear Delyara, My fingers are covered in dark grease from checking the oil levels on the auxiliary generator at midnight, and when I sat back down to review the design drafts for Maison SEIFI, I accidentally left a heavy, black thumbprint right over the rendering of our gold cufflink set. I tried to rub it away with a corner of my sleeve, but it only smeared further into the textured paper, turning the pristine white background into a smoky, shadowed smudge. I stared at that stain for a long time. It felt like the physical meeting point of my two existences—the gritty, manual labor of the night watch physically leaving its mark on the clean, elite luxury world I am trying to build. Maybe the artifacts shouldn't be so clean. Maybe they need the shadow to be real.
