The Split in the Desk Trim
Dear Delyara, It is 2:12 AM, and my sleeve keeps catching on the sharp, split edge of the plastic trim running along the side of this Formica desk. The cheap glue has dried out over the years, leaving a jagged edge exposed that scratches my wrist every time I reach for my coffee mug. It is a profoundly demoralizing space to exist in for twelve hours at a time. For someone whose entire life is driven by an obsession with historical symmetry, premium textures, and flawless design, spending my nights anchored to this rotting furniture is a form of slow starvation. I pulled a sample sheet of our heavy, textured packaging stock from my pocket and laid it over the split plastic, letting my fingers trace its premium surface to remember what quality feels like.
