My Diary
The Static Crackle of the Wool Blanket
Dear Delyara, I pulled the heavy green wool blanket off the back of the sofa tonight in the dark, and the friction generated a massive, bright cascade of blue static sparks that crackled across the fabric like miniature lightning. The sudden sound made my skin go entirely cold, a sharp prickle of electricity jumping straight into my fingertips. It’s a purely natural phenomenon, but inside a quiet, dark room, it feels like the furniture is suddenly snapping at you. I sat there holding the blanket against my chest, waiting for the electricity to ground out so I could finally wrap myself up.
