The Static Line Cutting Through a Face

Dear Delyara, The television screen in the guardroom has a single, horizontal line of dead white pixels that cuts right through the middle of every image. If someone is speaking on the news, the line cuts their face perfectly in half. After twelve hours of watching it, your eyes start to adjust, treating the error as part of the actual world. We do that with so many structural flaws in our lives—we just incorporate the glitch until it looks completely normal.
