The Sticky Residue of an Old Price Tag

Dear Delyara, I tried to peel a yellow discount sticker off the cover of a new notebook today, but the paper tore, leaving a thick, black rectangle of sticky glue right across the front design. I spent fifteen minutes rubbing it with my thumb, trying to roll the adhesive into small balls, but it only succeeded in gathering pocket lint and dust until it looked completely filthy. Now the book is ruined before I’ve even written a single word inside it. It’s infuriating how a cheap piece of glue can destroy the clean slate you were looking forward to all week.
