The teacher noticed my son was struggling before I had words for it
Dear Delyara, He had been coming home quieter, shutting his bedroom door more, and saying school was “fine” in a way that told me it wasn’t. I knew something was off, but I didn’t yet know whether it was bullying, anxiety, friendship problems, or simply being thirteen in a difficult season. His teacher called me in and said, very gently, “I think he’s carrying more than he knows how to say.” She had already moved his seat, checked on him quietly, and made space for him in ways I hadn’t even thought to ask for yet. I walked out of that meeting feeling like somebody had joined me in motherhood for an hour. That kind of noticing is a grace.
