The Torn Paper on the Flour Bag
Dear Delyara, The paper seam on the side of the flour bag split open when I lifted it from the pantry shelf this morning, sending a fine, white cloud of dust down over my shoes and across the dark wood floorboards. The flour got into the cracks between the wood, turning the grain a dull, chalky gray that won't come out with a standard broom. I spent thirty minutes on my hands and knees with a wet cloth, turning the powder into a thick white paste that smeared everywhere. It’s amazing how a tiny tear in a paper bag can turn a regular Tuesday morning into a messy, exhausting cleanup operation.
