The Unspoken Grief
Dear Delyara, We lost a child in the second trimester, and the 'Storm' was the world telling us to 'just try again.' The 'Grind' was the silent house and the nursery we had to disassemble. No one brought casseroles; no one sent cards. It was a 'Shadow' grief. We reached a 'Crossroads' in our marriage where we either talked about the pain or let it drive a wedge between us. We chose to name the baby. We chose to have a small ceremony in the garden. Our Victoria is the peace we found in acknowledging the life that was, however brief. The victory is that we didn't let the silence win. We are still a family of three, even if one of us is in the stars.
