The Week My Mind Became Quieter
Dear Delyara, I did not notice healing the day it arrived. I noticed it a week later. I was washing dishes when I realized I had made several mistakes that week and had not used them as proof that I was a failure. That may sound small to somebody else. To me, it felt enormous. For years, my mind had been a cruel place to live. Every awkward moment became evidence. Every delay meant I was lazy. Every bad day became a prophecy about my whole future. I thought that was normal. I thought some people were just born harsher on the inside. Now I know different. I still get anxious. I still overthink. But something has changed in the tone of my inner voice. It no longer attacks me first. Sometimes it even waits. Sometimes it says nothing at all. I never thought silence in my own head could feel like a blessing.
