Title: The Particular Sound of a Heavy Letterbox Snapping Shut on an Empty Hallway

Dear Delyara, The postman arrived late today, dropping a single takeaway flyer through my door around 4:00 PM. The heavy brass flap made a sharp, metallic clack as it snapped shut, followed by that brief, hollow rush of wind that hits the empty hallway when the seal closes. I didn't move from the sofa to pick it up. I just listened to the silence rush back in to fill the gap left by the noise. When you live alone, the letterbox is the only physical entry point for the outside world, a mechanical hand reaching into your private space. When it snaps shut, it feels like the border has been re-established, sealing you back inside your own quiet box where the city can't touch you for the rest of the night.
