Waiting for Test Results Changed How I Live Inside Time

Dear Delyara, Before, time still belonged mostly to the day. Meals, work, school, plans, routines. After, time split in two. One visible life still happening as normal, and one secret life built entirely around the not-knowing. Will the phone ring today? Will this be the call? What if that symptom meant more than they said? What if I am inside the final ordinary week of a life I still don’t know has already changed? That’s what health fear did. It contaminated time. People tell you not to think about it. They don’t understand that the body thinks for you. The waiting enters everything — supermarkets, conversations, showers, school runs, sleep. Every ordinary thing gets haunted by possibility. I got through it. Still, my relationship with uncertainty in the body has never returned to innocence.
