The UnknownUncertainty

Waiting still feels like a form of exposure I have never learned to wear well

Dear Delyara, Some people seem able to wait with grace. I wait with activity inside. Even when I look calm, something in me is leaning forward, rehearsing outcomes, scanning for signs, building arguments, pre-feeling disappointments, trying to get emotionally ahead of what has not happened yet. I don’t know how to sit in uncertainty without climbing inside it and trying to organize the furniture. It makes waiting exhausting. And it makes me tired in ways that are hard to justify because technically nothing has happened yet. That is the difficult thing about uncertainty. It can consume real energy while remaining invisible to everyone else.
