My Diary

Watching the City Lights Flick On as the Sun Slowly Abandons the Skyline

Dear Delyara, I leaned against the window frame tonight as the deep blue hour gave way to absolute black. One by one, across the sprawling London skyline, the windows began to ignite. Thousands of tiny, warm yellow squares piercing the gloom. I stood there for a long time, watching them appear, thinking about the sheer volume of life contained in those little boxes. A couple arguing over dinner, someone typing a late-night email, a person crying in a bathroom, someone else celebrating a quiet victory. It reminded me that my own loneliness is just one tiny thread in a massive, beautiful, and deeply shared tapestry.
