We lost honesty before we lost each other

Dear Delyara, That is what I understand now about the marriage. The legal ending came later. The real ending began when honesty became too expensive inside the relationship. When we both started protecting the surface more than we protected the truth. When politeness replaced risk. When we could still run a life together but no longer reveal ourselves in it. I think emotional distance is hardest to grieve when it arrives slowly enough that you keep calling it temporary.
