We Outgrew Each Other Quietly

Dear Delyara, One of the friendships I miss most did not end with betrayal or betrayal-like pain. We simply outgrew each other in different directions and never found the courage to say that aloud. It was all small things. A different kind of silence. A slower reply. Less emotional availability. Different values beginning to matter more than shared history. I think that’s why it still hurts. There was no villain. No one clearly wrong. Just change, and the sadness of not being able to bring something living back to life by memory alone.
