Work keeps asking for more of me than I want to give

Dear Delyara, I understand that jobs are not supposed to fulfill every emotional need. Still, there is something difficult about work taking more of my inner life than I consented to. It takes time, yes, but also softness, patience, attention, and the emotional residue of being “on” even after the shift is over. Some days I come home and feel like too much of me has already been used by a role that does not actually love me back. I don’t know if that is capitalism or adulthood or misalignment or just reality. I only know I feel overdrawn by it lately.
